So Long, Pearl…

If you have stopped in the tasting room lately, you may have noticed that our wine tribute to Miss Minnie is gone. Pearl will be off of our menu for a while, but don’t worry! You’ll see Pearl around sometime next year.

Have you heard the news?

Soon, there will be a new wine in town and it is one that dry red lovers everywhere will clamor for. Our soon-to-be-released Three Eighty Two is now in a bottle. Currently, it is recovering from what we call “bottle shock” but will be available for purchase November 5th.

We are very excited about this wine. We think it is some of the best dry red that has come out of Grinder’s Switch Winery to date. Harvested entirely off of our vineyards, this full bodied dry red comes from the Chambourcin variety of grapes. Chambourcin produces not only a seductively dark purple color, but also a rich mouth feel, smooth tannins, and an earthy black cherry taste. It pairs particularly well with red meat or dark chocolate and will certainly be a wonderful end to a chilly fall day. While this wine is certainly pleasant to drink now, it would develop even more personality should you happen to put a few bottles away for 6 months to 2 years.

The Three Eighty Two is also the first in our new collection of estate wines. These estate wines will be grown solely in our vineyards and will each have a unique train-inspired label. The Three Eighty Two is, of course, the ill-fated train driven by Casey Jones. The legendary train engineer from Jackson, Tennessee.

The next in our estate collection of wines will be the Zephyr. We hope to be able to release it before the end of the year.

So, make plans to come visit us in November for the release of our newest dry red, Three Eighty Two.

Come on September!

September is just around the corner and it is shaping up to be our busiest month of the year. As you may have guessed September means harvest here at the winery and many of our days start early in the vineyard to get all of our grapes in right at their peak so that we can start the process of turning them into wine for next year.

Of course, we are always looking for help during these days and if you are interested in coming out and being a Harvest Helper please let us know. It really is a unique experience for wine lovers to be able to see the beginnings of the wine process. You can volunteer by giving us a call or by giving us a shout on Facebook!

Also going on in September will be a few really fun events:

September 1-3rd we will be at the Tennessee Walking Horse Festival in Shelbyville, TN. If any of our customers in that area would like to pre-order their favorite wine and pick it up there, give us a call to place your order! We can’t guarantee that we will have it with us unless you call!

September 17th is our next Blues and Wine with Mississippi Millie and Tiger Gagan. This dynamic duo will be lighting up our stage with some soulful Delta blues. BBQ will also be available for purchase.

September 25th from 2pm-4pm, Jodie will be demonstrating some great Fall-inspired recipes. The event is free but space is limited so call to hold your seat!

So as you can see, September is going to be an exciting month! We hope you can come on out for a visit. And if you would like to share your pictures of your visit please add them to our Flickr group! We will be picking some of our favorites to show up on our website!!

Have a great September and we hope to see you at the winery!
