Do you grow your own grapes?

We currently have 6 acres of vineyards and 2 acres of Muscadine grapes on our estate. That’s not enough to grow everything we need, but it does provide about 30% of our fruit. Everything else comes in juice or fruit from either east Tennessee, south Georgia, or the Fingerlakes region up north!

How long have you been a winery?

We opened in 2006. Before that, our tasting room was our family home. Joey (the winemaker) became interested in grape growing and wine making over a decade ago and has been honing his skills as a vintner ever since. We like to call this his “hobby out of control”.

Who built the log cabin?

The cabin was built by Joey and Gail (and a whole lot of friends and family) in the early 80’s. All of the logs were logged from the property and peeled and set by hand. It took a little over 2 years to build and served as our family home for over 30 years.

Where did the name Grinder’s Switch come from?

Can we volunteer? 

We love volunteers! We often need help bottling and picking and welcome any extra hands we can get. Contact us for more info!

Can I bring my pet?

Yes! Any well-behaved dog on a leash is allowed at our Centerville location, however, pets are not allowed inside the tasting room. Please clean up after your pets!

Do you charge for tastings?

Not at our original location in Centerville. However, we do charge for tastings at our satellite locations in Nashville & Columbia.

Can I purchase your wine in liquor stores?

Yes! We are currently carried in many liquor stores all over the state of Tennessee. If your favorite store doesn’t carry our wine, all you have to do is ask them to contact Athens Distributing for ordering.

Do you have any discounts?

Yes! We always offer a case discount (12 or more bottles) and periodically run specials and promotions! Sign up for our emails and follow us on Facebook for up to date specials.

Do you offer tours?

We currently only offer tours by appointment and for large groups. There are only a few of us here and it is hard for us to offer regular tours of the grounds and facilities.

Can I bring my own wine or beer or liquor to drink?

No. We cannot stress this enough. We can lose our license should any guest be caught with outside alcohol on the premises. Please leave it at home and enjoy only our wines here on site.
